Before you purchase a home, you should always have a home inspection done. During a home inspection, a professional can walk through the home you’re hoping to purchase and check every nook and cranny of it for signs of potential trouble. Home inspections often end up saving you thousands of dollars in the future if your home inspector is able to identify problem areas in a house, requiring the home’s seller to make repairs before you move in. You should never skimp out on a home inspection prior to the purchase of a home.
Here at Babcock Home Inspections, we believe that you should also conduct an appliance inspection as part of your home inspection.
When walking through a home, most people take appliances for granted and simply assume that they work fine if they are still within the home. After all, they wouldn’t be in the home if they needed to be repaired, right? But the truth is that appliances are very costly, and if they come with a home, you want to make sure they work, just like you want to make sure the plumbing, electrical, and heating and cooling systems work. Some appliances are a “part of the home,” and they should be inspected, too. If appliances are being included in the purchase price of the home, it is your right to have them inspected and evaluated.
When you have appliance inspection done, you want to make sure appliances are inspected. Appliances that are considered permanently installed, generally the stove and microwave, should be inspected. At the very least, you want to know if you will need to plan to purchase new appliances after moving into a home, and the only way to know that in advance is by having appliance inspection done. You also want to take inventory of what appliances are in the home and what condition they are in at the time of inspection to make sure that they are something you want remaining in the home.
Would you like to have a home inspection done, complete with appliance inspection? Babcock Home Inspections can provide it for you. Call us at 210-325-2106 today to schedule an inspection at a time that works best for you.
